On Tuesday next, the Tt; Anau proceeds from Wellington tu -Napier and Cisborne to pick up more detachments of school cadets, and she will leave Gisborne for Lyttelton direct on Wednesday night. A meeting of delegates of football clubs interested iu the Easter matches was held oil Wednesday evening, when it was decided to accede to the terms ollered by the Exhibition authorities ■ and to have faster matches played on ' the .Exhibition sports ground. To-day witnessed another large at- • lendrr.ee, and it is confidently antici- . paled that the high average of visitors now being experienced will bj triumphantly maintained until the. great fair doses on the 15th prox. If a total (!.f two million is not reached, and there are expectations that it will, the total of one million nine hundred thousand visitors is looked upon as well within

The pot show of "Wonderland," under the eon--1 "<jl "f the Society for the L'reventioii 01 Cruelty to Animals, which was the niiiiii event to-day, attracted a very large attendance, both ill the afternoon and evening. The show was formally declared open by the Hon. Mr J''owlds. The exhibit* were mostly contained in two large marquees, one of which was given almost entirely to klogs of every size and breed, -while the other was a veritable Noah's Ark of birds, and animals, ranging from a four-legged lien 'to hedge-hogs. For tue essay competition, essays were received from every part of tlie colony, and judging is not yet complete. Mr Munro lias received a telegram from the General Manager of New Zealand itaihvays that an excursion numbering 2110 persons from Auckland, left Wellington last night in connection with the Exhibiton. Farmers from all parts of 'the colony have been taking great interest lately in experimental plots attached to the Agricultural Department's court. Quite a number of visitors from Otago and Wairarapa were taking written notes of the growth of the dill'erent crops this morning, and ] this has now become a common sight Several local schools have adopted the plan of visiting different parts of the Inhibition in turn for the purpose of intelligent study, and the pupils of the Milton Girls' Jligli School now in C'liristclmrch have been copying this admirable example. It is Suggested that the Exhibition orchestra shall give two sacred concerts in the sports ground on the afternoon and evening of Good Friday. It is expected that the orchestra will have the largest audience it has ever known on these occasions.
