WILD WEST SHOW
The "Wild West" show ojiened to n large crowd of spectators in the arena 'near the railway station lust night. Caplain Keynolds, Professor Hates and Miss Bates gave some splendid exhibitions of riding buck-jumpers, the animals having no chance of unseating these skilled artists. A raw, unbroken colt was brought in, and gave a lively exhibition for a few minutes, but very shortly Captain lteynolds pronounced hun unfit to provide any amusement. Next came a horse "with ii local reputation" for bucking, but; ■Miss Bates subdued lnni, sitting gamely and pluckily and firmly as only an ucomplislied equestrienne could do. Some good lasso work was done, and the "fancy" lassoing was verv cleverly done, with the execptiou, of 'course, of a few slijis. But the ring was too small for any real display of the undoubted skill in this and other departments. Towards the close of the exhibition, there was a tendency on the part of some of the spectators to cavil at and endeavor to belittle the performance, but the bulk of the audience recognised the genuineness of the performance. This afternoon a matinee will be given, and valuable prizes are "IVorcd to Ihe boys who make the host showing i„ |l,e use of t asso. To-night the performance is to be repealed. Miss Bates will give an exhibition of rough-riding with "No. 1(), ; - a horse of famed bucking projiensities.
