A private cable was received in Sydney to-day announcing thut Spreekles had decided to withdraw the steamers of the A. and A. line f on the Sun Fraucisco service. The general manager of the company when seen, stated there was absolutely no fouuda.ioni'or the report. All that
is known here is that the Sierra and and Ventura arc to he laid up on returning to San Francisco to bo thoroughly overhauled. This means a temporary break in the service.
