TARANAKI LICENSING COMMITTEE.

The Taranaki Licensing Committee met oil Wednesday morning at New Plymouth. Present: ill* \Y. G. ltiddell, S.M., (presiding), 11. Okey, ,1. I'. Coiinetl, J. S. McKellan, \V. L. Newman, and VV. Auibury. The police report on the hotels ill the district was favourable, tile only unfavourable mention being of the two charges pending' against [ihe I'ccfiseci of the Taranaki Hotel, New Plymouth. .Mr Okey reported that, in accordance with Uie resolution passed at the previous meeting, he and ,Sergeant lladdrell had visited all the hotels in tlie district and inspected the means of lire escapes provided. These were found to be of a satisfactory nature in every instance. Mr Okey was Ilia liked lor his report. Mr Connelt reported that to the lies!, of his knowledge Mr K. Whittle ha,l conducted the licenced booth at the recent New Plymouth races in a very satisfactory maimer, and said that (liere iiad been no disorder or anything of ail unfavourable nature. The clerk was instructed to obtain from the police a report on the conduct of this booth, and have it ready for the next meeting. This concluded the business.
