SYDNEY WOOL SALES. By "Moturoa." Mr E. Russell experienced a bit of bad luck recently. After winning a hack race at the Pahialuu meeting, Cyrene was found to have, been ineligible to start, the gelding having won 'the exact amount in stakes which put. him out of hack company, consequently the owner has been asked to

return the stakes. After enjoying a short, spell, Pharo;

was again put into work recently, but he has again gone wrong, and Mr U'Driscoll has decided to give the gelding a lengthy sped, which it is hoped will have a beuelicial ell'ect. If the horse would only stand a good solid preparation, he would probably prove

to be one of the best 'chasers in the colony. Ton Tnlii, who won the Hack Scurry at the Woodville meeting, was submitted to auction after the event, and knockel down to Mr F. W. Lambess for 141 guineas. Te Kauui also changed hands at tit? same meeting, being purchased by a patron of R. Knox's stable at Opaki. For some reason or other, the acceptances received for the Wanganui autumn meeting are rather disappointing. The Cup should produce a good race between Mutfilid, Marguerite, and Mauler Delaval. The hitter in charge of D. Monaghan passed through en route to Wnnganui on I'ridav hist. it iscportcd that'"Dave"Ross (Ross and Bradshaw) is the new owner ot Aneycle. • ■] *i ■•!■ Delamere is flic popular fancy for

the Flying Handicap at the Wanganui meeting. The Sylvia Park mare is said to be doing splendid work on 'the track. Aniboiso. who won the races at the Duncdin meeting, is a full sister to Marguerite. ', * V!" A Wellington scribe remarks that Gil wain is' very well at present and should be worth watching in his future engagement's. Ebullition, winner of the Newmarket Handicap, is a three-year-old colt by Simmer, from Carbelle, and is trained bv IliekevboUmm.

The V.R.C. meeting will be continued on Tuesday, the principal event being the Australian Cup. »
