Mr Bond, Premier of Newfoundland, in the Assembly, proposed a contract with Mens' Brothers, of London and Paris, for a weekly 18 knot service between Killary (Ireland) and Green Buy, with a two hours' journey across Newfoundland, and 2)-knot steamers connecting to the railhead at Gaspc Quebec). The scheme also offers an alternative tunnel under the strait between Be'le Isle ani Labrador, linking with the proposed railway along Labrador. Either way, a savins of 32 hours over other Atlantic routes would be made.
A subsidy of 75,000 dollars for 25 years is proposrd, and oilier subsidies are expected from Canada, United States, and Britain,
