PUBLIC NOTICE is hereby given that a special meeting of the New Plymouth Borough Council will be held in the Council Chambers, King Street, New Plymouth, on the 11th day of March, IUo7, at 7.30 p.m., for the purpose of confirming a resolution passed by tho Council on the 11th day of February, 11)07, ordaining and making by-laws and amendments for the Borough of New Plymouth to come into operation and force on the 20th day of March, 1907 ; and also that the object and purport of such by-laws are:—

(i) To repeal by-laws 68 and 69 of division 5 of tlie general bylaws of the borough. (u) To provide lor the fixing of water meters by consumers and for the control of the same by the Council and for their removal and repair, (c) To provido for . the fixing of charges for motive pow.er, hydraulic lift power, and for building and plastering. (d) To provide as to the materials to be used in the erection of chimneys, smoke pipes and funnels, (b) Prohibiting the lighting of fires in furnaces used in connection with any brewery, f.Miry, sawmill, mills, smith)', steam laundry, or other manufactory unless such furnace be furnished with chimney shaft of specified materials and height. (i : ) Providing fhat vihere sawdust, shavings, or leather chips are used m any such furnace for fuel tlie chimney shaft shall be of a specified heit'ht. ('■') To provide for the fixing-of spark arresters to chimney shafts. (h) Providing for the good rule and government of the Public Library and Library building and fixing the subscriptions for borrowing books and periodicals from the lending library. (i) Imposing penalties for the breach of any by-law.
