-Mr Millington, gaoler at New L'lynioulli, is responsible for having some very sensible improvements carried out at the Courthouse. was within a few minutes of the time for opening the Court, and there wer.' only -throe soiicitos present, not nearly a sufficient of talent to "welcome the new Magistale. True to the tradition and example of the'late occupant of the Bench, the solicitors were j late in arriving. So the Clerk, at the request- of Mr Roy, asked Mr Itidde.l if he could delay proceedings till five minutes past eleven. lie consented, on the condition that this must not be Hi ken as a precedent. Then the telephone was put into rapid requisition, and by 11.5 the local legal profession was very wHI represented. Counsel ftnd clients relish the new order of things, and perhaps it was a : well to get punctual on the instalment plan; in fact, to "break it gently."
