Mr Winston Churchill speaking at a dinner, stated that the result of the elections in the Transvaal promised a highly representative Parliament.

The elections" in tue Transvaal are being fought with great spirit. Tinresults, which are incomplete, indicate that the Progressive will form a strong compact minority. Sir Perey Fitzpatriek was elected, polling 491, against 361 polled by Sir Richard Soloman, and 170 by Mr Burke, the Independent candidate. Sir P. Fitzpatriek received a great ovation at Pretoria, where the excitement is indescribable. I
Racial feeling is running strong as the returns are received. Twenty thousand are assembled in the Market Square at Johannesburg.

Renter reports that 18 Progressives elected include Sir Wools Sampson, Sir George Farrar, Mr Abe Bailey, and Van Halsteyn. Sixteen Het Volkites, including those returned unopposed, include Mr Smuts, Doctor Krause, Messrs Bisaik, Booth, Langerman, and Advocate Devilliers. Sis Nationalists include Sir Bichard Solomons (a brother of Edward). Three Laborites were elected
