AN UNKNOWN'S DEATH. mm:~* r.*:— •• Ashbceton, February 20. An inquest on the body of a man found in the Eakaia saleyards' plantation was held at Bakaia yesterday. The medical evidence was to the effect that the man had been dead from ten to fourteen days. A rifle bullet was found in the skull, and the ntle found alongside the man contained an empty cartridge. In the man's pocket there was an account addressed to Peter Anderson, of Kinloch, from L. J. Lvneh, storekeeper, Queenstown. The body was too decomposed to give any clue to identification. A was returned that deceased mu his death either by suicide or accident, but the evidence was not sutihiently clear to show which.

CHBUTcncucD, February 20. A woman named Beatrice Jlilford pleaded guilty at the Lyttelfon Court to-day to a charge of having made a false declaration in respect of the birth of an illegitimate child, and was. committed to the (supreme Court for sentence.
