ANNUAL CONFERENCE.
Per Press Association. Timaru, rcbruary 19. J lie annual conference of the New Zealand Master Bakers' Association assembled to-day with nineteen delegates present, anfl more to arrive. The annual report stated the year had been uneventful so far as trade matters were concerned. No demand had been made for amendment of the current award. The question of licensing shops for the sale of bread had been discussed, and was favoured by the Chief Health Officer and Minister of Health, who also agreed that the practice of exchanging fresh loaves for stale ones should bo prohibited. An attempt made to get "barracouta" .loaves classed as fancy bread had failed. The finances were in satisfactory cond:ton,the appropriation accountstand- >»(,' at £4 17s 8d Some discussion took place on technical education versus apprenticeship, and this is to come up again for further debate.
