HOSPITAL BOARD
The Taranald Hospital and Charitable Aid Board met on Monday. Present: Messrs (I. Tisch (chairman), J. 11. Parker Jas. Burgess, 0. Andrews. J. Brown, C. O'Sullivau, and 1) H McDonald. RESIGNATION. The resignation of Nurse \ r . McAllum was accepted, and the house committee authorised to fill the vacancy. The chairman explained that' Miss McAHum intended entering on a course at St. Helen's Hospital in Dunediu. PROBATIONERS. Misses Ivy Nixon (Tariki), Jr. MacLcjliiu (Gladstone) a*l Louisa Higginson (Cambridge) applied to be enrolled on the probationers' list, lieceived.
VALUATIONS. 'Pile Valuation Department wrote, giving particulars of the rateable capita! values of the district at .list March, Klilfi; as follows:—New Plymouth borough, £1,070,(145, against £803,270 at previous valuation; liiglewood borough, £125,105 ( £124.7511). Waitara borough, £124,4(1!) (122,408). Clifton County £1:80.020 ( C700.08S), 'Jaraitaki Couiilv £2.017,410 (£1,053.018); part, of tile Kaliofu rdiing of the Egmont countv, including, some native lands liable for rates £458,107; making a total of £4,485,024. in a supplementary letter, tlie Department pointed out that the difference in vaiucs for the years 1005 and 1000, was accounted for by a portion of the Clifton County having been included in the new Waitoma County. The rateable capital value of this part of ihe County at March 31st last, year was £140.052. The slight diliercnce between the figures of the two years in the Egmont county was accounted for by the 1(505 exempt totals being increased. No valuation in either county had taken place.
GENERAL. Mr Thomas Clark, of New Plymouth, forwarded a cheque for £5 as a donation to the funds in recognition of t/ie kindness shown to his late friend, Mr .Swainson.—To be acknowledged. Dr Walker reported thai at, Hie boKinuiiig of the nionth there were 3(i patients in the hospital, 20 had .*n admitted, three died, and there now )''■ lined 3fi in : the institution.
The Xcw Plymouth Borough Council wrote that the Board's request for the borough stair to do asphalting work at tlie hospital would he acceded to, and the work done when-the slafl' had completed the footpaths. Accounts amounting to '£477 11/5 (hospital £328 1/1, and charitable aid £l4O 10/4) were passed for payment.
