Received 17, 5.25) p.m, Londox, February 16. ■Lord Elgin, in harmony with a deputation of Britisli-Tndifins from the Transvaal that waited upon him. has disallowed the Transvaal Legislature's Asiatic Law Amendment, an ordinance far the registration of all Asiatics, and the expulsion of those who arc unable to prove they are lawfully resident in the Colony. Lord Selborne fayored the ordinance. Lord Elgin, while sanctioning the * rededorpstand's ordinance, disagreed with the restriction preventing Indians from holding land. The Westminster Gazette says Lord Jilgin s decison regarding registration wi tend ta educate the Transvaal to a fuller sense of its part m a great Empire of many races.
