ALLEGED BRUTALITI' OF POLICE. ALIENATING OPPONENTS TO THE MOVEMENT. London, February 11. Tha Tribune, Chronicle, and News all complain of the brutalitv of the police in connection with" the women's V demonstration. The mounted police are especially singled out for condcrnnation. ' . The extreme methods adopted by the police have, it is said, done much to alienate opponents of women's sufra j{ rs Despard was fined 10s or 21 days' imprisonment, and the others from 10s or a week to 20s or a fortnight. All the fifty-eight went to prison. A man was lined 2s for attempting to rescue his wife.
