A dance is to be held in the Whangamoniona Hall in the evening. i hear that some of the members of the local liifle Club intend journeying to Trentlmm to try conclusions with tiie best shots that New Zealand can produce. 1 wish them all kinds ot good luck, and would be pleased to hear of their .success. Several lierdy of cattle have passed through Whangamoniona during the week for Mntire and Mangaroa. Jlr McCuteheon brought in a fine line of stud sheep last week. Most of the settlers here intend going in foi sheep in place of cattle.
Tiife lion. Mr McNab is expected here at the end of the present month, and preparations are already being made for his reception. It is also announced that Mr \V. Symes is to conroj to open the Arnold Bridge, which is situated on the road between here and the Wanganui ltiver. The date of the opening is not yet definitely decided upon.
