Dc ceased, who was the second daughteij of Captain Howell, of Fairlig'at Station, Lake Wakatipu, was a na'tive of Southland, and came to the Wairarapa about 3'/ s years ago. In December last she was conducting a nursing home with Miss Hall iu Masterton, and became ill, it was supposed fronv inllueimi, and later on her medical adviser assured her the illness was the, result of a growth, in her stomach. -Miss Howell was removed to Castlepoint, ami was attended throughout her illness by Miss Hall. After burial, deceased's brother ascertained that deceased had left a will in favour of Miss Hall, bequeathing her personal estate of a total value not exceeding -C4OU, and as there was an absence of any motive for disregarding the other members of the family in the will, counsel f or the ncxt-ofkin applied for an order of exhumation of the body for purposes of analysis. I: appears that the brother of tho deceased Miss Howell caused the body to be exhumed owing to the great difficulty he had to obtain access to her bedroom when dying. The body was exhumed this morning. It is understood careful examination revealed absolutely no trace of cancerous growth in the stomach or elsewhere. A portion of the body "nan been removed for examination by the Ciovernmcnt Analyst.
