IMPERIAL TARIFF PROBLEM.
London, February 5. The " Morning Post " says that iE it is necessary to make sacrifices to secure party unity, the tariff reformers might exclude the duty on corn from the first instalment of a scientitic tariff, giving Ihe colonies limited preference by means of low duties on produce and meat.
Mr Austin Chamberlain (late Chancellor of the Exchequer), speaking at Stirehlcy, paid a warm tribute to the Unionist loyalty to Mr Balfour's leadership. He said he rejoiced thai Mr Balfour had restated his convictions, founded on keen observation of the course of national trade and study of Imperial problems.
