WARMLY' RECEIVED. Received Oth, 1>,50 p.m, MELBorBNE, Feb. 6. Lord Nortlicote entertained Sir Joseph Ward at lunch. Those present at tlio dinner giyea by the Commonwealth Parliameni at Menzie's Hotel, included Mr Deakin, Chief Justice Madden, Mr Watson and many representative men, Sir Joseph Wurd, t) Mr Deakiu's toast ot Lis health, dealt with the proposals at the Coloniil Conference, and advocated continued support to the British Navy, a white Australia, and the establishment of an Imperial Council. Sir Joseph had excellent reception* and w&s kept very bu>y hero, lie k-ti for Adelaide to-day.
CONFERENCE WITH Mil DEAIKN, COOPERATIVE ACTION AT THE CONFERENCE. Received 7, 1 7 a.m. Melbourne, February G. Mr Deakin, after conferring with Sir Joseph Ward regarding the Imperial Conference, said they hoped to be able to work in combination iu many respects. There are questions which, geographically, are of closer importance to New Zealand and Australia, than to other parts of the Empire, though most of the subjects for discussion would practically of equal importance to all self-governing colonies.
