FIRE ON A SCHOONER.

SCUTTLED AND REFLOATED. l'er Press Association. Auckland, February 3, When the auxilliary schooner Greyhound, from the north, was coming up the harbor this afternoon, a (ire broke out amongst the (lax portion of the carp). The vessel was berthed at the wharf quickly, and leads of hose from the wharf run on board. The (ire float was also requisitioned. After about an hours pumping water into tho hold, the lire was still progressing, and it was then decided to take the yessel in shore, where she was scuttled, and the lire put out. The vessel was then pumped out and rclloated, and it is not expected has been injured, but the cargo must be badly damaged by fire aud water. There are no insurances ou the vessel, but whether cargo is or not is unascertainable at present.
