METHODIST MISSION BAND.

Ihe Auckland Methodist Mission Band played an excellent programme of musii; in Cui'rie street on Saturday evening, playing in perfect tunc a number of selections that appealed very favourably to a large gathering of the public. On Sunday, the band took part in the services at Whitelcy Memorial Church, the Rev. Mr Wilson, oi: the Newton Mission, occupying the pulpit. There wei'e large congregations, morning, afternoon and evening, the church building being crowded oui at night, despite the fact that much extra seating was provided. In the mormng Mr Snowdou saug " Tour Forth no More Unheeding Prayers." Bjfore the usual evening service, a hymn service was held, the band leading in a number ol old Methodist hymns. At the subsequent service Rev, Wilson preached a plain, practical, i yet powerful sermon, on the necessity for trusting in and rtcognising God, Mr Snowdou sang very effectively n •jouple of anthems, "The Vesper Hymn," and one of Alexander's hymns "Will You Believe?" the! latter being a particularly cll'cct've rendering, This evening the concluding service of tlie mission will be held iu the Whitelcy Hull, when a humorous recital will be given on •' Life in New .Zealand and A'ictoriaii Prisons," by Rev. Wilson, and a number of selections will be given by the bund. Wo are asked to state that the collections taken up by the band at the various services are divided between the local church and the Mission in Auckland, and not one penny finds its way to the individual pockets of the band. They arc now on tlieir way to the Chi'istchurch Exhibition and band contest, but do not compete, the trip being taken for educational purposes only. ________
