WAITARA ROAD
FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT. Since I last wrote we have had a good rain, followed by line mountain winds, and now the weather is just about perfect. The hay crops are just about finished, but oats are to be seen stooked in a number of paddocks, while on three or four farms stacks are to be seen. Mr Neilson has 40 acres of wheat facing the factory, and inese Took .exceedingly well. Ttie'y 6hould be ready for the binder in about a week.
Turnips are coming on well this year, and if the weather this next month should be at all wet, the crops ought to be very heavy. Messrs Cartwright and Tarry are getting on fast with the metalling of the Waitara road, and should iinisc. as far as the metal is concerned in about a week.
The supply of nidk at the factory is at the maximum, and although feed is plentiful, complaints are heard nil round of the early going off of milk. I have to report the death of Elizabeth Rowe, daughter of .Mr \V. Rowe. sen., of Huirangi, which took place at Wellington. The deceased lady was buried at Huirangi cemetery .we ...n----eral taking place last Thursday. Ihe Rev. Jecks officiated at the grave. Much sympathy is felt for Mr Rowe and family. -„,„.>..
