THE PASTY IN AUSTRALIA. SERVILITY OF PARLIAMENTARY REPRESENTATIVES. MR WATSON'S PROTEST. Stpnet, January 28. The Labour Conference is not a particularly happy gathering. No pains hive been spared to show Labor mem bersof Parliament that they are purely the servants of the Conference. V.r Watson was told straight-out that poßticians were creatures of the Conference, and that he must do as he w is told. Mr Watson warmly resented this, and said lie would go as far as he wanted to, but no further. i INAVIGATION CONFERENCE DELEGATES. A PROTEST AGAINST THE APPOINTMENTS. Received 29,1.7 a.m. Sydney, January 2S. r Leading officials of the Seamen's Union protest against the composition of the Australian delegation to the Imperial Navigation Conference, not one of whom has the least idea of the present conditions of seamen, or the changes needed except what they may have read. One official scid Mr WatBon simply knew nothing of the sea, and Mr Hughes did not know much more. Although both the delegates were Labor leaders, it would have been much belter to have men against labour, who were fair and honest, but who knew something about the subject. The Labor Political Conference passed a resolution to-night protesting against the appointments. ~|THE BRITITH CONGRESS. Mr Keir Hardic declares he will seriously consider resigning if it is intended to limit the actions of the labor Party in Parliament. Mr Quelch, referring to the continuance of unemployed, declared the Sight Hon. John Burns was the most reactionary minister. The Conference has ended.
