Tile shipments of butter for January total 44,000 boxes, worth £111,51.5, at (he low estimate of 50s per box (about 10d per lb). There is still in store about 4500 boxes, valued, on the same basis, at .£11,250, or a total quantity of 4',),10[i boxes, worth £122,705, for the month so far. in January, lOOfi. the exporti of butter was 3!),1!)!J boxes, worth £75.500 approximately. The increase in the Janaiiry exports, as compared with last year is 1-1,407 boxes, valued at .130,015. Cheese exports for this month total 3013 eases, valued at £14,573. reckoning its value at UOs per cwt. The shipments of cheese in January of last year were 1700 cases, so that the increase is 1037 cases, valued at about £/748. Tin; dairy produce exported from New Plymouth since the opening of the year—only one month—has reached the unprecedented value of £I2O,OSS. It must be borne in mind that three fortnightly shipments have gone forward. 'The full returns from Patea for tiro same period are not yet available, but it is certain wi'd not be less than £OO,OOO in value. The quantity of butter and cheese handled by the two ports in the province during the mouth represent the phenomenal value of not less than .CIBUJWB, and with the quantities to arrive in the eool stores during the remaining days of this month, Hie £2l T l,ooo mail; should be almost within reach. The January figures provide a record that will probably stand for some time.
