LABOUR PARTY AND METHODIST CHURCH. * Sydney, January *• _ The presidential address of the Political Labour League makes an attack on the Methodist Chinch. The address refers with regret to the introduction of religion into polities, and states that the Labour parly never permitted religious differences to enter their ranks. It thought a man's religion was a thing entirely belonging to himself, and regretted that the Methodist Church, together with the | so-called Temperanc- Alliance, hail been practically captured by the lieform Association, f.ooking bail; on the history of the Methodist Church, it was a'subject for regret and sorrow that it should allow iKc'f to he usel by a party of politicians against a movement to give life to .h ■ peop'c. The President of the Methodi-t Conference has replied to th> statement. He said there was nothing unfriendly in the attitude of the Church to labour. The Church was the friend of labour's best interests, but it held itself free to have some judgment upon what the» best Interests were.
