Finally the magistrate had the grave of the iirsc victim dug up. and sudd'-il-ly confronted Mueller with the skull and bones, saying: "These are the re mains of the poor woman you murder ed eight veals ago." .Mueller', who" had hitnerlo with, stood a'l threats, tricks and persuasions, suddenly burst into tears, and confessed that lie killed the widow. The examining magistrate led him to confess in icars of the other two crimes, and to give details which enabled the police to supply conclusive evidence of liis guilt.
