The most serious aspect of the Swcttenham incident is that American newspapers are punishing the com plaints of refugees arriving in America, that preference was {riven to British in the matter of relief, Americans being badly treated. The captain of a steamer at Port Kingston is accuseil of landing foodless and shelterless Americans to make room for British, and refiling to allow the former, specially the women and children, to seep on deck, though thero was ample room.
