WELCOME BAIN SETS IN. Per Press Association. Invebcaboiu, January 22. Heavy rain set in this morning, which will bo a boon to farmors and the salvation of many bush homesteads threatened by lire. The damage amounts to thousands of pounds by the-destruction oi sawmills, houses, fencing, crops and stock. Owing to the dense smoke in town it is impossible to see a hundred yards i ahead this morning. The mills destroyed include Timpany Bros.' at TVaimatua, Broad, Small and Co.'s at Tisbury; Fairweather's, at Tjslmry; and Wnllis's, at Hedgehop*
