ADULTERATION OF LEATHER
London, January 2). Mr Coglilan (N.S.W. Agent-General) was present at a meeting of the leather section of the Chamber of Commerce, who strongly condemned adulteration and asked him to advise manufacturers to cease using adulterants. The Chamber will support Mr Coghlan's endeavour to get all imported leather examined for sugar. (The Customs of London recently stopped large parcels of Australian leather because the export certificates showed they contained sugar and glucose, on which the Customs claimed duty, thus delaying delivery to consignees. Mr Coghlan wrote to the Customs asking that the same treatment be accorded all leathers.)
