THREATENED WITHDRAWAL OP INSURANCES. (Per Press Association.) Oi i bistcj t uj«' ii, January 21. It was rumoured in town this afternoon that the Underwriters' Association had determined practically to withdraw (lie whole of the insurances on the Exhibition building and stalls, consequent on the failuro of the Exhibition authorities to comply with (ho conditions under which the permit was granted by the Association. Enquiries rom -Mr V. W. Armstrong, Inspector lo (he Association, go to confirm the rumour. He says the Underwriters arc easy going, but want a thing right. Vi hen the electrical installation course was under completion, the Undorwriters made certain concessions totho Inhibition authorities but framed conditions, one of which has not boon earned out. The Underwriters stipuInleil that a man be employed by the authorities (o superintend tho whole exhibition from a lire prevention standpoint, but the man has not been employed. The work of the brigades is to put fires out, but the Underwriters .vnnt a man to preyent tiros. Tho insurauces are to be lifted if tho conditions arc not fulfilled.
