Mr T. I'isher, iigout for the Public Trustee in connection with the West Crist Settlement Keservos m this district, has keen appointed as a Judge in ihe Native .Laud Court. Air Fisher is fully quihi'ied for the position, not on : y from his work iu connection wiliitktoc reserves, but also from (he fact that he lias been a member of the Aolca District Maori Land Board for the past six years, and President of I hat body for about three years At the same time lie held the position of Judge of the Native Land and Appellate Court. Ho was also a member of the Wellington Land Board. Prior lo entering the service of the Crown, Mr Fisher was a prominent member of local bodies in South Tiiranaki, having presided over the Wairoa Eoad Board for a yory long period. He was also ■an active member of (he Patea County Council and the Patea Harbour Board. It is likely that, as Mr Fisher will retain the presidency of the Aolca Lt.itrict Maori Laud Board, his headquarters will be at Wanganui, and it will be some time before he is able to leayo New Plymouth, us his successor will need to be initiated mto the iutrieacies of the work here.
