LA CARABINE YACHT RACE
'Melbourne. January IS. Ten started in the second race for l,a Carabine Cup. There was a fresh north-west breeze, and the nca was iiimpy. The course was a triangular one of 21 miles. Fancy and Savonara were the first across the line, the Jia whili to windward, fo'lowmg. The Savonara wn . the iirst to i-o.ue about. She attempted, unsuccessfully, to run across the Uawhiti's bows. The Savonara was going faster than the Itn'whiti. but lie- hitter wa.- not making so much leeway. Tin' New Zc.ilamler rounded the lirst buoy 4min 2";.-ec ahead of the Savrnuia! There was iililc alterations in the positions to the second buov. The liawhiti ouiuo down the third side of the triangular course with the Savonara half a mile behind, and the Heather a good mile further back. S.J-.S. finished lifU, but time allow auce placed her lirst, with the Heather second anil liawhiti third. The Kdona was fourth and the Savonara fifth.

S. on an cipialfity. each having secured four points. The Sayonara did not start to-day, the owners realising she was Hying too light, and intend putting Aicwt of lead into her and rcmcasuring her before competing in the Sayonara Cup event. Details of today's race are not to hand.
