LA CARABINE YACHT RACE

'Melbourne. January IS. Ten started in the second race for l,a Carabine Cup. There was a fresh north-west breeze, and the nca was iiimpy. The course was a triangular one of 21 miles. Fancy and Savonara were the first across the line, the Jia whili to windward, fo'lowmg. The Savonara wn . the iirst to i-o.ue about. She attempted, unsuccessfully, to run across the Uawhiti's bows. The Savonara was going faster than the Itn'whiti. but lie- hitter wa.- not making so much leeway. Tin' New Zc.ilamler rounded the lirst buoy 4min 2";.-ec ahead of the Savrnuia! There was iililc alterations in the positions to the second buov.
