Mr Ben M. Wilson, private secretary to iSir Josepli Ward, lias been appointed secretary to tlio Arbitration Court. At a meeting of Dunedin citizens last night, an intluential committee was set up to take steps to suitably recognise Mr Mark Cohen's seryiccs to the city for the past quarter of a century, Mr Cohen, who leaves early in February on a trip to England, is known as editor of the " Evening Star." The friends of Mr J Ferguson, of Stratford, will have. heard wiLLi sympathetic ritgrut o! the death of his wife, which was announced yesterday. It is understood that death was due to pheumonia, and that adding to the saduTws of the trouble Mr Ferguson himself is laid up from the same cause.
