At Papakura 011 Monday we had a large muster, competition being good, and nearly eveiything changed hands under the hammer. We quote — Dairy cows '£3 los to '£7 10s, heifers £3 to ,£0 os, grown steers £5 5s to £0 10s, two to three year old do. £3 13s to £5 12s Od, one to two year old do. £2 2s Od to £3 15s, calves 17s to £1 Bs.
At the Newmarket yards on Tuesday steers made '24s per lOOlbs, cows 17s to 20s. Fat oxen sold at from £6 10s to £lO 17s Od, cows £3 10s to £3. Dairy cows' sold at) .from .£3 10s to (£7 10s, empty do. £1 13s to £2 10s, grown steers £4 10s to £0 Jos, calves 18s to £1 9s. Sheep: Fat wethers 18s Oil to r £l 4s, ewes los Sd to £1 is, lambs, wellfatted, 13s 6d to ISs 9d, other sorts 10s Od to 15s. ADDIXGTON STOCK MARKET. Cliristchurch, January 10. At the AtUlington live stock market to-day the entries of stock were large in all departments. The attendance of buyers was only moderate. Fat cattle showed a decline of almost >£l per heal. store sheep were dull of sale. Fat lambs and store sheep were also down in price. Figs were fairly firm. Store and dairy cuttle were dull. Store slieep—About 800 yarded, made up principally of reject lambs and backward store wethers. Light lambs brough (is (Id to 8s 9d, and a special line sold at 12s sd: wethers were hard to sell at any price. Fat lambs—There was a yarding of about 8500 fat lambs, but the quality was hardly up to that of last week, and prices were appreciably easier all round. Prime freezers made 15s to 18s 3d, medium 12s Od to 14s od, light l)s to 12s. Fat sheep—There was a large mixed yarding of fat sheep. The demand was very slack, aDd the prices easier all round. Prime wethers made 18s to 22s Od, lighter 15s 3d to 17s Od, prime ewes to IBs Id. medium 12s to 14s, aged and inferior 7s to lis Od. Fat cattle—The yarding of fat cattle comprised 335 head, which was considerably in advance of last week's entry, and was much beyond requirements. The market consequently was rather dull, and prime beef declined about £1 per head. Steers brought £5 17s 0d to £9 17s Od, heifers ;£4 17s 01 to i£7 17s 6d, heifers £4 17s (id to £7 17s (id, cows £4 5s to £(i as, equal to 15s to 22s per lOOlbs. Pigs—There was a good entry of both fat and store pigs, the former being rather easier than last week. Baconers made 40s to 545, equal to 4d per ib; porkers 28s to 40s, equal to i'/A per lb; large stores 20 to 2(is, medium 15s to 18s; iveancrs 10s to 14s (id.
