MANGOREI.
From Our Own Correspondent. T'no Hide Club's liflh annual picnic was held on New Year's Day and despite tin' threatening sippcaranco of tin' weather in lliy morning, the at-
; mlancc was a record one. The failsex as usual was well represented anil the picnic was generally voted to lie the most successful yet held here. Tiie President (.Mr J. 'l.. Ibholtscn), secretary (Mr \V. .!. Marsh) and tin: members of tl e shooting committer (Messrs A. "Marsh, (i. Hefner;, and 10. J. Smith), deserve every pra;.-|e for the general management, and ihc close scoring of the prize winners show the handicappcrs (Messrs A. Marsh and li. J. Smith) were well up to their work. A plentiful supply of good tilings for the refreshment of both shooters and spectators was provided by the ladies, and it was noticeable that some who came from considerable distances brought more liberal contributions. So "booby" prize was given this year, but there was a fair enquiry for broody hens by some of the competitors at the finish of the shooting. The fern round about the targets has a blighted appearance. Seven shots at 200 and 508 yards: score hp. M. J. Marsh ..'■ .. .. 67 :i E. Herbert .. .. ... CO 12 G. Herbert .... ~. .. 05 13 0.
