In the i'ourtli round, Stratford met anil defeated FeUding nftur 11 well contested iriMiio. and a most intorsetiny linish. At tliu last head, Stratford lav one, making their scores erjual, 17 each. Another head was played, and Stratford getting 7, won the game. I'aliiaUia, who won tlieir three rinks yesterday, were defeated for the lirst time by"Upper l'lain. As tlie heads were piayed. tlie game got more interesting. At the llitli head both scores were" level. In tlie next head, a splendid piece of p'ay was done by J. Coradinc, tho.-,l pper Plains skip. Their opponents were lying one. lie played and drew out, and playing his last bowl with a strong one, lay live, sending the Lpper l'lain score np to 22. They secured two more points on the last head, and won all out by 7. The game between Carlton and l'atea was keenly contested by each individual player, from the start of the lirst head to the iiuisli. The Carlton team got away with a lead that at the 7th head gave them 11 points to I'atea's one, and this lead was maintained up to the loth, when the lialea team drew level. The members of both teams were fully alive to the situation, and were, keener than ever to score. The l'atea skip and his men kept going, and at the lSlh head had increased their score to 20. Carlton only scoring 2 from the 11th head to the 18th against their opponents' 111. They rallied, however, at the last three heads, and increased their score by lying 1, 11, and 2. bringing their total up to ID; but l'atea, having registered 20, were tlie winners by a narrow margin of 1. Cisborne met and e-isi'.y defeated Carterton. This was due to the failure of ihe latter team to score more than 3 in the last 11 heads, whilst their opponents increased their score bv 10. I Tiie game .between the llutt and | Grevcown was most interesting. The llutt had scored 14 at the 7th head against their opponents' '4. At the Htli head, they had not incr:-ised it. The Greytown team, playing well together, iiad brought their score to 111. At the Kith head the llutt lay 4. and at the ISth and lDth lay 3 and 2, bringing their score up to 25. Their ] opponents had obtained a slight lead by lying 4 at the 17th head, increasing -, this to 27 with the last head, and won by 2 points. Podding had no difficulty in winning their game against Welling ton, a'lti.ough at the fourth head the latter team lay 5 to their opponents' ■ 1. At the 7th head Feilding drew t level, and gradually forged ahead, and ' were not overtaken until the 13th head, when their opponents drew levei with 11 each. They went to pieces in the next eight heads, only notching one, whilst the Feilding team added 1 six to their score at the 20th head and won easily by 12 points. The Petone and Greennicadows match was of a most interesting character. At the j !)th head, the scores were Petone 4, Greenmcadows 14. The former team pulled themselves together and by the q combined efforts of each player drew L level with their opponents at the 14th head, the score showing 15 each. Greenmcadows rallied and added 3 in the next two heads. Their opponents replied with the same, so that at the lDth head both were level again, 10 each. The game was now exciting. The next head (Jreemncadows scored, and there was still a chance for Petone to win in the last head but they failed, however, to score, and their opponents -\ got another, making their score 21 against 10. The winning team have so far an unbeaten record in the tour iiainent, and are level with Te Ran. The game between Ponsonby and Upper Plain resulted, in a win for the former. had 5 against their, opponents' 1. Ponsonby, however, got the lead after the 7th head, and gradually drew away from their opponents, winning easily. Pahiatua snltcred their second defeat at the hands of Carterton, who scored 4 at the livst two heads, obtaining a lead which they maintained, winning by 15. J.he losing team played well up to the 12th icad, when they fell away, and were never dangerous. Dannevirke and Gisborne met and played a good game. The former team were handicapped by the retirement of their skip, who was slightly indisposed. Duimuvirke scored 3 in the first two heads. Their opponents replied with the same. In the next few heads, the game was even, the score at the lOtii head reading 7 each, From this out llic Ciisborne team got going, and finally won by 22 to 15. Results;—
