to the green was soon evident in the I play. The best game of the day was I that between Ponsonby and Gisborne, These teams were levc'l, 24 all, on the last head, and had to play an extra I head, which was won by Ponsonby by one point, after an exciting game. Karori made a poor stand against Te Kan, who scored 31 to their opponents' i) Greytown were unable to accustom themselves to the green and went down before Daniievirkc by 2(i points to 13. Wellington Club could not

settle down in their place, and were easily beaten by Stratford by 11 points. The Newtown-Napier match was decided by one point on the 20th head. Newtown leading by two points, but on the 21st head Napier secured three points to Newtown's one, and thus won by one point. In the second and third rounds, a number of the games were evenly contested and exciting, and decided m the last head or so. In the second round, Dannevirlce bad a runaway victory, and beat llutt by 42 to 17. Greenmeadows and Pahiatua brought off surprises by beating Ponsonby and Gisborue respectively Kesults:—
