Tenders have been called for ad ditious to the Fraukley Road rcsi-, deuce, and the cluiirmau suggested that tenders be left to u committee. The report was adopted. (MANUAL AND TECHNICAL. Mr Isaac, Director of Technical Education, has paid a visit lo New Plymouth and Stratford. With Mr Spencer, lie went thoroughly into matters connected with tiie equipment of thu Kiiw Plymouth Tecimical School, and various applications .will bu made to the Depiji'tmenU. The! lilting up of a, cookery room and the erection of a woodwork room was discussed and the estimates gone inlo. Un Mr Spencer's recommendation an application is to be made to the Department for a grant to extend the proposed woodwork room by 10ft at a cost of i.£4o, thus making the room -IS ft by ;:u ft. The matter of woodwork, and cookery instructors was discussed with Mr Isaac, who recommends lluit for woodwork an instructor be advertised for at Dome at a salary of £l7O and cs penses., He would also lie required to give instruction at the Technical classes, fur which he would lie paid the usual fees, and should therefore be able to undertake advanced carpentry and joinery and one of the branches of architectural of mechanical drawing. Mr Isaac considers that an instructor in eookerv could be procured in the colonv for a salary of £l2O, and CM boarding allowance. Mr fipencer, in his report to the lioard, is of opinion thai, as the financial position has to be care fully considered, il would be advantageous if one could be procured to teach advanced needlework alho—. Tlie Central (school committee asked the J'.oard to grant a subsidy of ,C for X, up to ,U,3. towards the cost of repairing the ashphall in the school yawl and limiting the whole with, tar and sand during the holidays. .Messrs Collis and .Maunder, as a deputation, supported the reipiest, which was granted. j The Ukato School Committee asked that a certain closet he removed as its proximity (only a few yards) to the well constituted a menace to health. The Taraiiaki Land Board granted the use of a wliaro and two aeivs of land on section 12, block 13, Ulmva, for the Tutu school, at rental of 5,' per week.—Accepted with thanks to the Commissioner. The matter of frnciiig the site and starting the school was left to the chairman, with power to act. Jt was decided to call tenders forthwith for additions to the Toko residence. The chairman and .Mr Tisch were empowered to deal with tenders. The J-'itzroy committee took exeeplion to a holiday being granted nn the second day of the show without any notilication to the committee —The JSoard considered there was no ground for complaint, the holidav bemg quite optional. The circular to committees simply stated "If you ilnnk it desirable to close your school mi -November 2!ltli, the second day of the show, the Hoard has no ol.jcc'tion to your doing so." A letter "was received notify im; that the l'ublic Works Department was undertaking the erection of the school at .Maugapapa. -Mr (.;. Jlaker tendered his resignation as teacher of the .Makahul'uniwhakaau half-time schools, as from January olst. JR. did not see his way to apply for either oi these two schools singly. A single school was only a bare living, besides which at neither school had the teacher the smallest amount of comfort— Accepted. .the Alakahu school committee, commenting on this, asked that the school be made a full time one, as the attendance would increase alter the -New Vear.-lleferred to the inspector.
