The Admiralty has reduced the sentence on Stoker Moody, the ring leader in the recent Portsmouth riot, to three years. They have also directed that the "on the knee' order be only used in future for military purposes. Commodore Stopford has been relieved of his command for failing to display firmness and resource.
Commanders Drurv, Lowe, and -Mitchell were similarly punished for neglecting their duties.
