(From Our Own Correspondents.) KAIIOTU. A little girl named Joyce Tyler, daughter of Mr Tyler, K.ilnn lloud, met with u serious accident on Friday morning. She was riding to school on horse back with two other little girls on the same horte, ■ when the horse was frightened, it is said, by a dog rushing out, and bolted. The littlo girls were all thrown off, two 01 them escaped injury but Joyce was thrown against a barb wiro fence and severely cut about the face. She was taken into Opuuako and attended to by Di: Morrison, .who found it necessary to insert several stitches. Several residents from Kahotu intend visiting YVangantii during Christmas in order to be present at the forth coining boat race between Webb and Stanbury, ;.;" ;■• DPUNAKE.,',\\\: The' 'Annual concert in connection with the Convent School was held on. the following afternoon the breaking up for the Christmas vacation took place and was attended by a large number of parents and friends. The death occured on .Wednesdaylast of Mr A. H. Warner, third son of Mr K. Warner, at the early ago of 20. The young fellow had been ailing for about 4 years and had been conlined to his bed for some months past. He was of a very bright disposition, and much sympathy is felt for his parents and family in their bereavement. Tire funeral took place on Friday afternoon and was very largely attended, the County Council, of which deceased's father is a member, adjourning jas a mark of respect. The llev. Norboys conducted the service at the grave in an impressive manner. The usual monthly meeting of the School Committee was held on Thursday evening. The inspector's report on the school was read and proved very satisfactory aud a resolution was passed that tho committee expresses satisfaction at the progress made by the school during the past year.
