Mr Brewer, the representative xtl a Sydney syndicate, who has been spying out the land, has concluded negotiations for the lease of 10 acres of Veale's seate in New Plymouth, and also secured leases over a property adjoining Mr Peteh's farm on tho Car rington road, and at inglewood. According to the terms of the lease of the New Plymouth property boring is to be commenced at once, the bore to be sunk to a depth of 2500 feet if payable oil is not struck before. Mr Brewer left for (Sydney on (Saturday to report to his principals, by whom it is confidently anticipated his ncgotions will be endorsed. The inglewood and Moa Companies, who have been in negotiation for the services of an expert driller, have engaged Mr A. McDonald, of Victoria, and he is expected to arrive early in the new year, after Which, active operations will be couiniynced.
