From Our Own Cui nvpoti.U'nl. On FritliM' I'vciiiiig, N uveeiLer lllltli, a very enjoyable children's cmii-crt was held at'Xorfolk road. the funds raised being for prize*. The night was fine, and a fair crowd put in an appearance. Jiiss L. Richards opened the programme, with a. pianoforte solo, 'i'lie children rendered ' All Ai-ior.;.; the Barley," which was t'o'lswed l,y a "IMllie's Song." The smaller -:r!- ;.avo a good exhibition of <1 u'l'-U-loTl drill, after which was "Who Killed Cock Robin." Wand drill by three s.-niftr boys followed, and "Xrrscry Rhymes," dumb-bell drill (s.eniors) and choruses made up an excellent programme. The choruses were "Merry Soldiers,' "The r>ee," "The Foe .lumps l'p," mill a marching song. During an inti -rval. Mr Po'diingliorne e.i ve a, comic -.01.g, which was much appive'at'd. A laughable dialogue. [ol io\i'ed, 1 :.n ch:lracters being Mastirs J. Middlenii.vi as "Jim Crow,'' 11. Mather as "Tommy,'' and Frank Brown as "Massa Jonshig." A set of coon songs, "Coon! toon! Coon!'' "Stay in Your Own Bckyard," and "Alabama Coon," and "Ten Little Xiggers," earned much applause. A play, •'The Bobbies' Courtship." followed, the characters bciiigt.Miss E„ i.eeeU-v as lnt-tress of house; Miss ]•'. Corm-v as cook; Misses G. and .M. -)<ee Brown, and A. <,>uickfall as servant--,: Master H. Quickfull as policeman MiSquirtcr; .Master Jv. Corney policeman Jlaloney; Master F.' Wood as policeman Williams; and .Master Frank Brown as sergeant of polite. After the concert supper was handed round and dancing was indulged in, Mr Joe Burgess olliciating as M.C. .Miss L. Richards presided at lee piano.
