WOULD-BE MURDERER ATTEMPTS SL'iCiDE. PRISONERS' REVOLT. SUPPRESSED Received 7 th, 11.15 p.m. Sydney, December 7. The prisoner Harris, who recently tried to murder the deputy-Governor of Parramatta Gaol, made an unsuccessful attempt to commit suicide by hanging himself, using his soefcs as a rope.

It is understood the prisoners in the shop where Harris was employed, a few days ago revolted and attacked the officers, but were quickly overpowered.
