In the Reichstag, Herr Bebel, Socialist Leader, in the coarse of a sensational speech, declared that some Uerman officer* in the Camerooos were guilty of unspeakable cruelties, which had been allowed to go unpunished.
He accused a lieutenant, who commanded an expedition against the Cohohos natives, of killing all the inhabitants in a village except fifty- t«o children, whom he pat into baskets and threw into the river rapids.
Another officer blew three natives from cannons for theft. Herr Bebel declared that the whole Colonial Administration, including Connt ron Boelow, ought to be placed in dock because they only punished the imail offenders and allowed the big one to escape.
