EGMONT ROAD BOARD.
At the ordinary meeting 0 f the Egmont Road Board on Saturday there were present : Messrs T. Rowe (chairman), J. Martin, F. Davey, H. Martin, and F. Salway. HOll. T. Kelly, M.L.C., forwarded the reply 0 f the Department of Roads to tlie petition of the settlers on King, Upland, and Hursthouse roads, to the effect that owing to the many urgent I'erjuireinonts for more roads of access it was not possib'o to make provision in the last Estimates for the metalling of these roads. Manv other similar applications had also f 0 be reluscd. It was decided to thank Hon. Ke'lv and Mr E. M. Smith, M.H.R. for their assistance in this matter The chaiman reported that'he had let a contract for j 5 c h a i ns of for . mation on tne Upland road to Mr R street at £2 q/6 a chain. The original length 'authorised by the Board was only ten chains, but an exira five chains had been granted , 11 Hie settlers subscribing to the cost.-, .
