SAD BOATING FATALITY.
Per Prass Association. Rotorua, Decemebr 2. A sad rowing fatality occurred 011 Lake Roiokakahi this morning at 11 o'clock. William Seeley and Alexander Smith went out in a small boat, which they soon discovered wa« leaking vory mui.ii. The boat stamped, and both men clung to it for some time. Seeley left tne boat and struck for the shore. He swam well for about a chain and then suddenly disappeared. Smith stuck to the boat, and eventually reached the shore greatly exhausted. Mrs, Smith witnessed trie sad occurrence from the snore, and was the only person present. The boat was only about 200 yards from the shore when it sunk. Quite a gloom was cast over the town by the occurrence. Seeley was a highly respected townsman and took great interest in all sports, being seretary of the football and bowling clubs. He leaves a widow and child.
