SENSATIONAL QUARTZ DISCOVERY.
LYELL MINE CARRYING BICH GOLD. BICHEBT FIND ON WEST COAST. (Pei rress Association). GgßYaorrn, November 27. Sensational developments are reported from the Alpine mine at Lyell, which ww recently purchased by Messrs Craig, Stevenson and Billet t. Prospecting in number 7 level disclosed « large new make of quartz carrying coarse heavy gold, said to be the richest ever discovered in the mine, and richer than any stone hitherto found on the co&it. Mr Tacon, of Greymouth, secured an option over the property just prior to the discovery, and intends forming a company to-work the mine. Farther news is expected from the nine, where prospecting operations are being prosecuted vigorously.
