The No. 2 bore is now down 1750 feet. The gas is making its presence, felt, as well as the oil, which lias already been struck in small quantities. Anyone who goes near l"e pipes can have no doubt as to the presence of oil, the noise of the gas, and the sme'.l of the oil being very pronounced. Work is being proceeded with apace. _ A start is made at four in the morning and work is continued till six at night. The directors contemplate putting in the electric light, so that work can be carried on with safety day and night.

The cleaning process at tho No. 3 boro is still going on steadily. Large quantities of iron tools, etc., have been brought up from time to lime. f of the water a large amount or "fresh" oil is to be seen. At No. 4, on the Whiteley Church property, the derrick is almost completed. An engine and new gear J will bo on the ground at the end of next week, and boring operations are to be started in a short time. As soon as the carpenters have finashed Cite No. 4 dorrick they will set to work on derrick No. 5 ( opposite No. 1, ne,ar the railway line. The timber is already on the ground. Plans and quotations for the refinery works are expected by an early mail. The directors do not intend to commit the company in connection with the refinery untii such time as |'he_ field is thoroughly proved, and It IS expected that the proving will not bo a matter of many more weeks. The plant for the Bonithon Company's bore is now 011 the ground, and an early start with the erection of a derrick is to be made. Two other boring plants came to nand yesterday.
