Per Press Association. ArcKLisn, November 22. %e City Oouneil decided to-night, on the motion of the Mayor, to expend '• £6OO in the purchase of pictures for ihe Auckland Art Gallery. The Mayor (A M. Myers), gave notice to move thai it be an instruction to the Finance i" Committee, when framing future years' estimates, to consider, and if possible provide an annual sum for the pure base «f works of art for the Art Gallery, luring special reference to the Native Tate and the history of the colony. 11 is suggested that the sum now yoted be .expended in purchases of selections from the British art collection now on i
