SWIMMING SPORTS.
On all hands we hear of large numbers of intending- visitors to the baths to-day to witness tiie swimming- spous. Entries are good, and the competitors have been in solid training for seme time, so good ratling should be wiine-sed. The. handicapper seem- to have verv fairly summed up the capabilities 'of the contestants, and the general impression among- swimmers is that the finishes will be clo-e and exciting. The programme includes several novel'y and spectacular item?, and as llie water is exceptionally warm for this lime of the year, the balls should be kept fairly busy. Fund- are to be devoted to the Western Park improvements.
