Mr A. E. Farrar, manager of the Old People's Home, is confined to Lis room with an attack of miliieima. Dr, A. K. Newman, of Wellington, is at present inj New Plymouth on a business visit. The Hon. W. Cameras, M.L.C., of Eltham, is mentioned in well-informed circles as tbo most likely successor to the late Hon. A. Pitt in the Cabinet, and as Leader of the Upper House. The " Poverty Bay Herald" states that tho Hon. J. Carroll, who is making a good recovery from his recent severe illness, will remain in the Poverty Bay district until he has thoroughly recruited.
